I mentioned in my previous column that as the main sponsors of both the Rovers’ Youth Academy and the Development Squad, the Supporters Club has already paid over a large chunk of the 50/50 money that we donate on a regular basis and we are currently in negotiation with the Football Club management with regards to some more video equipment for filming training sessions and matches.
This is a vital part in the development of the young players and we hope to get this sorted in the coming weeks. There is a reward in that the squads have made good starts to their seasons with the Development lads, basically Rovers’ ‘Reserve’ team, making progress in both the G.F.A. Senior Cup and in the Premier League Cup with solid victories in the past month over Bristol Manor Farm and Burton Albion respectively. If you have some spare time get yourselves over to Yate Town’s Lodge Road ground and help give the lads a cheer. It’s a good watch I can assure you!
