Everyone at Bristol Rovers Supporters Club was very saddened to hear of the death of Ron Hicks at the age of 91.
We are indebted to Ron’s brother, Kevin, for letting us know. Kevin says:
“I thought it was only right to bring to your attention the death of my brother Ron Hicks at the age of 91. Ron was a life long supporter of the club and insisted I became the same during the early sixties. In later years we both became close friends with John Rudge, when he moved near to my brother during his time at Rovers, even better for me as my hero was one of Johns good friends Lindsay Parsons. As time progressed I know my brothers greatest pride was to be the groundsman at the training ground at Hambrook and looking after the ball boys and girls when the team played at Twerton. The youth team would remember him well at Hambrook, as they always got Chocolate Biscuits after a victory”.
We are sure that a great many of you remember Ron well and would like to join with us in sending our condolences to Ron’s family and friends at this difficult time.
