Rovers fall to narrow Central League defeat at Peterborough

A brace from Idris Kanu helped the home side to victory – as the Posh striker scored two second-half goals to put the hosts 2-0 up.

Substitute Kieran Phillips reduced the deficit to just one goal, tapping home from close-range following a mistake from the Peterborough goalkeeper, but the Rovers Development Squad couldn’t force an equaliser against a strong Peterborough outfit.

Speaking about the result, Development Squad Manager, Lee Mansell said, “It was a very pleasing performance as a whole.

“The goals we conceded were down to our own individual errors and we had more than enough chances and should really have won the game.

“We are obviously disappointed with the result, but pleased with the application and courage shown by the boys both in at out of possession, against a strong Peterborough side.”

The Development Squad’s next Central League fixture is a trip to Plymouth Argyle at the start of October.
