Bristol Rovers Under 18 Academy side are in the Youth Alliance Merit League ONE.

They qualified for the top league because they were one of the top five sides in the YA South West Division.

This league was very competitive this season with only three points separating second from seventh.

The EFL Youth Alliance Merit League starts on Saturday 18th February 2017.

The sides who qualified from the Youth Alliance South East league for DIVISION ONE are:

Leyton Orient, Southend United, Stevenage, Luton Town, Gillingham and Cambridge United.

The sides who qualified from the Youth Alliance South West league for DIVISION ONE are:

Exeter City, Bristol Rovers, Swindon Town, Plymouth Argyle and Newport County.

The detailed YA Merit League fixtures will be available in the near future.

All sides play the other 10 teams once with a balance of Home and Away matches.

There may be some long away trips in this league; particularly for Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City.

This is the third year of this competition and Bristol Rovers are hoping to repeat their first season’s success.

In 2014/15 a strong Under 18 Academy squad were on fire and finished runners up in their division.

They beat champions, Luton Town, on their travels but that was the only points The Hatters dropped.

Last season, the Under 18 Academy side struggled in the Merit League and ended the season disappointingly.
