Sam Oji

How sad it was to hear of the death, on Saturday, of former Rovers loan player Sam Oji, who was just 35 years old.

Sam came to Rovers on loan from Birmingham City in February 2007 and during his time at the Memorial Stadium appeared in five league games, which included a debut against Accrington Stanley on March 6th.

Sam was also an unused substitute for our JPT Area Final Second Leg tie against Bristol City on February 27th 2007.

He played for a number of clubs after leaving BS7, the most recent being Midland League Premier Division side Highgate United.

He skippered the side and only last month was appointed to the position of assistant manager for the 2021/22 season.

Tributes to Sam have been made by a number of his former clubs and all at Bristol Rovers Supporters Club would like to send their condolences to his family and friends.
