We were extremely saddened to learn of the death of Steve Melvin, who was well known to everyone that travelled to away games on our Supporters Club coaches.

We are indebted to Steve’s Granddaughter Lucy Ford, who has been in contact with us to make the following tribute:

“Firstly I just wanted to just give a little context of my Grandad:
My Grandad, Steve Melvin attended his first game with his Grandad on Saturday 11th March 1950 at Eastville at home to Millwall and his last live game was 70 years later when Rovers beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Mem.
He was a season ticket holder in the Family Enclosure with his wife Marlene and was a regular on the Supporters Club coaches attending with his wife and two of his Grandchildren, Lucy Ford and Liam Atwell.
Both myself, Lucy Ford, his granddaughter and my Dad (Steve’s son in law), Timothy Ford, have renewed their season tickets recently and will carry on his 71 years of supporting Bristol Rovers.”
