We would like to welcome all Bristol Rovers Supporters to our new website, which we hope will become your go-to place for news and views regarding the work we do and the benefits we hope to be able to offer you once you have become a member.
Our history
We know that there was a Supporters Club in existence as long ago as 19th February 1913, and we are very fortunate to have the original handwritten minute book which tells us that ‘a group of gentlemen interested in the Bristol Rovers FC met in the Club House at the Rovers’ Ground. All present were in agreement that the Bristol Rovers Supporters Club should be formed.
The modern day version of the Supporters Club appeared in 1947 and assisted the club through the halcyon days of the 1950’s and beyond, though changes of club ownership, particularly in recent years, means that the role of the organisation has changed and will continue to do so.
In the past the Supporters Club’s main focus was on fundraising on behalf of the club, but our role is now so much more than that.
Our focus will be on supporting our members and representing them at meetings with officials of the Football Club to voice any concerns they have.
We would like to implement a regular programme of Fans Forums and were delighted with last year’s inaugural meeting.
We will continue to offer subsidised travel to away matches for our members, offer discounts in our own matchday shop, ensure that our younger members have the opportunity to enjoy one free away trip each season and all members will be given the opportunity to be entered into a free draw to win hospitality for two at a home game.
Our aim will be to obtain more benefits for our members moving forward and to represent you at Boardroom level as we have two Supporters Club representatives on the Board of Directors.
We sponsored the Ladies Football team, the Gas Girls, from their formation up until the end of last season and wish them every success now that they are very much a part of Bristol Rovers.
We will continue to work with the Disabled Supporters Association and the Bristol Rovers Community Trust moving forward and have already contributed towards the cost of the two defibrillators that are now operational in the Memorial Stadium.
This is your website and we hope you enjoy navigating your way around. In time we will be introducing new features, some of which will require your input.
Here’s to a successful season for us all!
