Wanderers set to pay tribute to 13-year-old fan who passed away last month.
Oli lost his battle with sepsis early in January at the age of only 13, having been an avid Chairboys fan and popular Dynamos starlet for a number of years.
The club have invited his immediate family to watch the game against Bristol Rovers from two executive boxes, while all proceeds from the ticket sales from the large Dynamos group will be donated back to Downley to assist with renovations to their changing room facilities, in Oli’s memory.
And all supporters are asked to join in with a minute’s applause in the 11th minute – Oli’s shirt number at Downley – as a mark of respect.
Writing in his programme notes for the game, Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth said: “I’m so sorry that tragically we lost another member of the Wycombe family just after New Year. Oliver Darlington was a keen footballer and one of our proud young fans here, and my heart goes out to his family and friends, who I know are with us in great numbers.
“I can only admire your strength at this tough time and I know Oliver’s family want to raise the awareness of this terrible condition, a truly amazing thing to do, thinking of others, in light of what has happened.”
Donations for the memorial bench can also be made online via this website, while the family have also asked for donations to the UK Sepsis Trust here.
