What Does A Mid-Table Season Look Like?

It can mean that at the end of the season a side has “Home-Away” results that are something of a mirror image.

As of Wednesday 18th January 2017 Bristol Rovers Home league record is W-8, D-3, L-3, F-29, A-19.

In contrast the Away league record is very similar in reverse with W-3, D-3, L-7, F-17, A-28.

A defeat at Walsall on Saturday 21st January 2017 will result in results that are a near perfect mirror image.

This is not the only season that a Bristol Rovers season has produced mid-table mirror image results.

In 2008/09, BRFC were 11th with Home results of W-11, D-4, L-8, while the Away results were W-6, D-8, L-9.

In 2009/10, BRFC were 11th with Home results of W-13, D-3, L-7, while the Away results were W-6, D-2, L-15.

In 2011/12, BRFC were 13th with Home results of W-10, D-6, L-7, while the Away results were W-5, D-6, L-12.

In 2012/13, BRFC were 14th with Home results of W-11, D-4, L-8, while the Away results were W-5, D-8, L-10.

The “Home-Away” mirror image pattern of results is usually associated with a comfortable mid-table finish.

Finishing higher than mid-table usually involves a side obtaining more Away wins than 5 or 6.
