Paul Lewis the latest to receive his Cap

PAUL LEWIS

Goalkeeper Paul Lewis has become the latest recipient of a cap under our initiative to present one to every player who has represented Bristol Rovers in the Football League.

Born in the Rhondda in September 1956, Paul joined Rovers in 1972 and turned professional in October 1974. Jim Eadie was the first team shot stopper for most of his time at Eastville and his only first team appearance came against Bolton Wanderers on 24th April 1976 when he became the 435th player to represent the club in league football.

Now living in Swansea, Paul was delighted to receive his cap as our photo shows. He was also grateful for the newspaper photos sent to him, as you can see from the message he sent our secretary Keith Brookman which is reproduced below.

One of those photos is included here and, as you can see, Paul was a contemporary of Phil Bater and Wayne Powell and we hope to see Wayne here at the Mem early in the New Year.

Hi Keith

The cap and certificate arrived today.

I’ve attached a photo as requested with me wearing the cap.

It’s been a great honour being awarded the cap from the Supporters Club and will be something I treasure for the rest of my life.

Many thanks for the old newspaper clippings they brought back some happy memories.

I wish you, your family, members and committee of Bristol Rovers Supporters Club a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Kind regards

Paul
