Manager Bemoans Heavy Defeat at Bristol Rovers

Terry McPhillips bemoaned Blackpool’s worst display of the season, as The Seasiders lost 4-0 away to Bristol Rovers.

An out of sorts display, littered with defensive errors, was clinically punished at the Memorial Stadium, leaving the manager to deem it unacceptable.

“That was the worst we’ve done all season. I didn’t see that coming. No excuses today, we weren’t at the races,” he said.

“You’ve got to give Bristol Rovers great credit for the way they started the game. Their front two are a real handful, physical and powerful.

“But we have to hold our hands up and say we weren’t good enough. It was unacceptable. Accrington on Tuesday now is a massive game for us. We’re going to have to do better.”

The manager did confirm post-match that the side should be bolstered by the return of Chris Long for the midweek trip across Lancashire, with the striker having been on paternity leave today.
