Vicky Baker

Everyone at Bristol Rovers Supporters Club is absolutely heartbroken to learn that Vicky passed away yesterday evening.

Vicky, a West Stand season ticket holder, attended all home games and many away games with her partner Mervyn Harris always calling into our Match-Day shop for a friendly chat.

Our Vice-Chair and match-Day organiser Phil Draper says, “Today the saddest of news about my friend Vicky Baker who has passed away this weekend. With her partner Mervyn Harris she was always someone we sought out first on arrival at an away ground among the gathering Gas family. At home games she always came into the Supporters Club shop for a natter with me, David, Angela and Janet. I am pleased to have had her company on one of the longest trips of the season as Mervyn drove us to Hartlepool on a Tuesday night and to have returned the favour by driving them to the Morecambe away game the following Saturday. Thanks too for the Olveston lardy cakes! RIP Vicky and a big hug to Merv. xx

When the Gas family gather again there will be some notable absences following this enforced “lockout” but I am sure Vicky and Car Park Nige to name but two will be watching with keen interest.

Our sincere condolences go to Meryn and all Vicky’s family and friends at this awful time.
