Result of AGM vote
Sky Sports broadcaster Brian Seymour-Smith is the Bristol Rovers Supporters Club’s new representative on the football club board.
Mr Seymour-Smith polled 246 votes in the ballot of members with Ron Cocks getting 79 and outgoing director David Brain 56.
A Bristolian, Mr Seymour-Smith says he is “extremely passionate” about Bristol Rovers as a life-long fan. His 30 years in broadcasting and public relations has included working on Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday and Sky Sports News. He managed Villa Park during Euro 96 and one of his PR company clients is Warwickshire County Cricket Club whose Edgbaston home has completed a £32 million stadium development.
Mr Seymour-Smith will serve as a director for two years alongside current Supporters Club representative Ken Masters who did not have to seek re-election this year.
David Brain was praised by SC chairman Jim Chappell for his work over the years, particularly the running of the Share Scheme which has to date raised more than £900,000
