Share Scheme Report December 2005

“Junior Signs New Contract”. That was last week’s headlines that I am sure most fans will have rejoiced at .What many will have missed is the statement at the end of the press release confirming that yet again the Share Scheme had helped to fund Junior’s new deal.

Under the Share Scheme agreement we have promised to commit 20% of income to team building. That is some £2,800 monthly. We are proud to have been able to support Juniors original transfer fee to the tune of £75,000 paid in 30 monthly instalments of £2,500. The last payment was made in November 2005 and we have been looking to support Junior again.

Junior’s 22 goals last season were undoubtedly one of the few highlights in an otherwise disappointing season. Many fans have come to the Supporters Club and asked us to do what we can to keep Junior at the club. Well now we have and hopefully Junior will add to his 10 goals this season and build upon his goal scoring partnership with Richard Walker. Whilst Junior’s goals last year helped us to stay in League 2 lets hope this year his goals will get us out of the division ‘at the right end!’ After 3 league wins on the trot there is cause for optimism for the first time in a while.

All Share Scheme members should feel very proud of the part they are playing in keeping our club alive. History will never forget how Andy ‘Rambo’ Rammell kept us from the Conference thanks to the Supporters Club Share Scheme helping to fund his wages. Junior has already made a significant contribution and I am sure will continue to do so. We also have the bonus that if Junior follows the likes of Jason Roberts, Barry Hales, Marcus Stewart, Nathan Ellington, Bobby Zamora and Gareth Taylor, in bringing in a big transfer fees, the Supporters Club Share Scheme has a sell on clause that will earn 10% of transfer fee profit to buy shares .

The Supporters Club currently has circa 125,680 shares which is approximately 7.3% of the share capital and over a quarter of the way to our aim of 28%. We, the members of the Share Scheme, are already ‘Making a Difference’. We want to progress towards our ultimate aim of raising £3.5M for the football club.

Should anyone wish to join the Share Scheme your contributions will be greatly appreciated and will go towards helping us support the football club in the future. It will allow us to continue to help fund team building. The Supporters Club is mindful of the fans feeling towards Ryan Williams and if we are able to help Ryan get a new contract we will be delighted to do so.

A downloadable Supporters Club Share Scheme application form can be found in the Share Scheme section of this website. Alternately if you require further information, I or one of the share scheme advisors will be in the Share Scheme caravan/ shop inside the memorial gates before every home gate. Completed and signed forms can be handed in or posted to 199 Two Mile Hill Road, Pirate Leisure, the match day portacabin or the Share Scheme caravan. Remember you can also buy your programme and other merchandise from the caravan. I will also be at the caravan, or contactable from the caravan, should you wish to speak to me in my new capacity as Associate Director.

Thanks for your continued support,

David Brain
