With the team having played the last two league matches away in the last two weeks, Supporters club business has really been limited to retail activity and organisation of travel for the away matches of late.

Over the last few weeks I have been reporting that our business sub committees are meeting on a regular basis. News in from the Social sub committee, chaired by Dave Hewett, is encouraging. They are certainly leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to both hold events and aid the stadium with publicity for their events.

At their last meeting, the player of the season evening, re-introduced last year, was discussed. This event was held after the Bristol fans derby last year and proved to be a real success. It is also hoped that the goal of the season competition will feature again this year.
One of the most serious points raised during the debate to organise this season’s evening was location. Whilst the event was held in the MCE suite last year, this year it is essential that the venue is available to all wishing to go. With no disabled access to the MCE suite, it is most likely the event will be held in the clubhouse bar behind the Bass Terrace. It is most likely the admission price will stay the same as last year too, incredibly the same admission fee as was charged in 1995! More details will be published here as they are confirmed.

Other events planned and indeed confirmed are the ever-popular quizzes. A film and TV quiz has been arranged for Monday 3rd April and Phil Draper’s next General Knowledge Quiz has been arranged for Thursday 20th April. All profits from these quizzes will go to the Supporters Club Share Scheme.

The Pirates skittles team continues to do well, currently sitting in 4th place in their respective league, with a game in hand. The team play on a Monday night, with home matches being played at the Mem. If you are interested in playing, please contact Sue Williams at the portakabin on a match day.

Another attraction being run by the Social committee this season is the fantasy league. Having just updated this after the Peterborough game, we can tell you the top five places are as follows.
The team with no name – 98pts
Can I have Rooney as a ringer? – 97pts
Turners Terrors – 80pts
Briz Boys – 77pts
D Whittington – 77pts

Finally, the Young Pirates will be running a coach to Shrewsbury. Young Pirates committee member Susan Cumming is organising this and says they have a few seats still available for this trip. If you are interested, please call into the Young Pirates room, which is located opposite the West stand turnstiles for more details.
More news next week .
