With everybody missing their football fix at Oxford last week due to the pitch being frozen, it seemed all week as though the Notts County game may well be in doubt too, after a very wet week.

This week sees a busy time for the Supporters Club.
As everybody should now know, the Oxford match takes place this Wednesday the 15th at the Kassam Stadium. The following piece of information is most important if you cannot go, but still have a ticket you bought in advance. All refunds for tickets MUST be done prior to close of business tomorrow at 5pm. No refunds will be made after this date with no exceptions. Ticket refunds will NOT be possible on Wednesday. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes. To date refunds have been less than expected, so it is quite likely we will still take a good crowd there.

Prior to Wednesday night’s match at Oxford, the Supporters Club are holding the first of the ‘On the road’ evenings planned for the next few weeks at Yate Town football club at Lodge Road Yate. The evening starts at 7.30pm and will be an opportunity for Gasheads to come along and find out more about the activities of both the football club and the Supporters Club, with representatives present form both. Lennie Lawrence will be there, along with directors of the football club and prominent members of the Supporters Club executive committee. Our gratitude goes to all at Yate Town for providing us with a fine venue for the night. Entry is by ticket only, with tickets being free of charge, and is open to all Rovers fans. If you have not yet got a ticket but would like to come, please call into Pirate Leisure and they will let you have one. We are hoping to announce a further date to add to our schedule in the next week or so, more details when things are confirmed.

In other news this week, the football club announced the policy on smoking at the Mem for the forthcoming season and beyond. As mentioned last week, the Supporters Club made representation to the football club on this issue having consulted with members and others offering their opinions. With the recent law passed to eventually outlaw smoking in public places, it was important we took this situation on now and addressed our member’s concerns and comfort by introducing a partial non-smoking policy at an early stage. This will mean no smoking in any of the seated areas of the stadium and the family terrace and all the bars with the exception of the Bristol Room will also be non-smoking areas as of the start of next season.

With next year’s season tickets going on sale this week, it was felt that by announcing the non-smoking plans at this early stage, it would help people in choosing which area they wanted to watch games next season.
Early season ticket purchases remain competitively priced under our early bird scheme. We are also offering some great deals for family tickets, with U16’s accompanying an adult in the family terrace or XXXX stand paying just £32 for a season ticket, down £48 on this seasons price of £80, with tickets also including membership to the Young Pirates. With the team hovering around the play off zone, an early bird priced season ticket could yet turn out to be a real bargain with prices fixed until April 8th. After that date, tickets will be going up; so don’t delay as you only have four weeks to make your decision!

That’s the latest from the Supporters Club. We hope to see plenty of you at Yate Town on Tuesday and at Oxford on Wednesday.
Hup Gas!
