[image1] With the end of the season fast approaching now, there’s plenty going on here at the Supporters Club to let you know about.
This week sees the Rovers fans team take on a City fans team at Ashton Gate on Thursday evening kicking off at 7.00pm. The Bristol fans derby, now in its fourth year, has to date raised over £16,000 for local good causes and continues this year with all funds going to the planned Children’s Hospice at North Wraxhall. All are welcome to go along and watch, with admission being free, though take plenty of change as there will be people with buckets and they will use them! We wish both teams well, though with the Rovers fans team being winners for the past two years, the pressure will surely all be on the red half! Here’s hoping you raise a load of money for a deserving cause.

On the Supporters Club committee we are delighted to announce two new Gasheads who have volunteered their services and expertise to help us with our retail and match day operations.
Ian Pugh will be leading the Commercial Committee after nearly two years of helping the Supporters Club behind the scenes. Ian has been the driving force behind the new IT system recently installed into Pirate Leisure and 199 Two Mile Hill. He was co-opted onto the Supporters Club Executive Committee at last week’s meeting. We are delighted that someone with Ian Pugh’s commercial experience and business acumen is able to assist us in this way at this particular time.

A belated welcome is also due to “Taff” Alexander, who will be heading the Match-day Committee, and he has already made his mark with the great energy he has displayed around the stadium as he has got to grips with his new role.
On his first day as a volunteer he found himself thrown in at the deep end when he took over the busiest 50/50 pitch in the stadium. If you are interested in helping the Supporters Club on match days then you contact Taff either via our website (www.bristolroverssc.co.uk) or by leaving a message at either of our retail outlets.

A quick reminder for you. Our forthcoming Player of the season evening is to be held on Sunday May 7th starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £5 (the same price as the 1995 player of the year evening!) and will include a basket meal like last year.
In addition to the player of the season and the young player of the season being announced, there will also be an award for goal of the season. The Supporters Club Executive Committee also use this opportunity to recognise an individual that they feel has given outstanding service to the Football Club, Supporters Club or both, by presenting them with the Steve Larkins Memorial Shield. Last year’s recipient was Denis Dunford.

Back to this week and this Thursday sees Phil Draper holding another of his legendary and very popular general knowledge quizzes. As usual, all profits go to the Supporters Club Share Scheme. He asked me to make it clear I have previously publicised it as a music quiz and I think he was worried! Hope that’s cleared that one up Phil. Usual entry fee of £1per player applies making up teams of four, and start time of 7.30pm in the Bristol Room.

Finally, we did have one happy Gashead last Saturday despite the result. Our 50/50 winner was delighted to collect a prize of £1005 from match sponsor’s man of the match Aaron Lescott. The winning ticket number was 47895.
More news next week.
