Friday 10th June

The Football League AGM is to be held on Friday 10th June 2016.

At that meeting a new Chairman will be appointed.

Ian Lenagan is to succeed Greg Clarke as the Chairman of The Football League.

Ian Lenagan has a track record in business and has previous involvement in club football with Oxford United.

Ian Lenagan said: “It is a great honour to be asked to be Chairman of The Football League and lead our 72 clubs in the next stage of our development under the new EFL brand.”

One of his first duties will be to consider the proposal to increase the league clubs to 80.

This suggested restructuring is not connected with any plans to introduce Premier Reserve or B teams.

The justification for re-organising the leagues to 4 divisions of 20 teams playing 38 games each is:- HERE

It does not seem to have been warmly welcomed by all.

One example is Andy Holt, the Owner of Accrington Stanley, who has very clear views:- HERE
