Cup Of Confusion?

August 6, 2016

The English Football League Cup is the new title for the LEAGUE CUP.

One area that may be confusion is the rebranding of the Cup Competitions.

On Thursday 11th August 2016 Bristol Rovers will play Cardiff City at The Memorial Stadium.

For more detailed information about tickets and hospitality for this fixture: LOOK HERE

We will be welcoming back to The Memorial Stadium Paul Trollope and Lennie Lawrence.

This is Round One of the EFL Cup with a 7.45pm kick off.

The EFL Cup was previously known as:

the Football League Cup,

the Milk Cup,

the Littlewoods Challenge Cup,

the Coca-Cola Cup,

the Worthington Cup,

the Carling Cup,

and most recently

the Capital One Cup.

This is NOT the competition that involves Bristol Rovers first team playing NON-FIRST TEAMS.

This is NOT the competition that is seen as farcical or a Trojan horse by some supporters.

It is NOT a match in the competition that some people are talking of boycotting.

It is the newly-branded Checkatrade Trophy, replacing the JPT, that is the concern.
