Surrey based Gavin Ward is a familiar face for both sets of supporters.

Gavin Ward has previously been the referee SEVEN times in a BRFC match.

He has been the match referee on TWELVE occasions for a Southend United game.

He has been the referee at Roots Hall for a Southend United v Bristol Rovers match once before.

On Saturday 31st January 2009 he was the referee when Dougie Freeman’s 57th goal earned the three points.

He last refereed The Shrimpers at Roots Hall on Sunday 28th December 2014 when he sent Cian Bolger off.

Southend United drew 0-0 at HOME that day with Dagenham & Redbridge.

Gavin Ward last was the key match official for a Bristol Rovers match back in November 2013.

In that 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon he booked 4 Dons players and sent off Sammy Moore late on.

In his other six Bristol Rovers FC matches, there have been one victory, one draw and four defeats.

Meanwhile, he has seen Southend United win 7 times, draw twice and lose 3 matches.
