The work involved in bringing in a balanced back five to provide competition for the current squad is immense.

At the end of the current season the “ruthlessness” necessary to make these mid-season changes may be appreciated.

Other events have dominated the recent headlines but this coordinated transfer activity is massively significant.

Great credit must go to Darrell Clarke, his coaching and scouting team and the Board of Directors.

Supporters have yet to see two of these five play but their presence is important, far-sighted and welcome.
